Afterglow

Ben Byford – Afterglow

Cosmic microwave background radiation bathes us constantly, it is the aftermath of the big bang, an indication of our beginning, a message from existence itself. Humans possess no faculty in order to sense first-hand this radiation, but have used technology to discover it, extending our own reach, our senses, our bodies.

Afterglow is an experiential installation trying to put the viewer at the centre of the static radiation left over from the big bang.

Afterglow was presented as part of Hackney Wicked arts festival 2014. The video presented below and the gallery image serve as a record of the installation but not the installation itself.
